What the Designer does for SpecSys Overall project responsibility, including: Verify the design meets performance and configuration specifications Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget Customer management to understand expectations and standards Working on multiple CAD packages Creating detailed CAD models of manufactured components Creating detailed CAD models of purchased parts Reviewing CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturability Developing detail drawings of purchased components and assemblies Developing detailed manufacturing drawings of pieces, weldments, assemblies, and schematics Reviewing detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standards Generating Bill of Materials Reviewing and updating model and drawing tolerances Project CAD layout Developing design concepts to perform project function reviews Reviewing Bill of Materials for completeness Specifying purchase components to be used Sourcing purchase components to be used Preparing CAD model for FEA analysis Preparing project review booklets Initiating and occasionally moderating project review meetings Developing and updating project timelines Reviewing project scope and ensuring project remains in line with contract and expectations Updating and tracking action/issue items Preparing Engineering Change Order proposals for submission to the customers Candidate Profile Ability to interact at a management level with Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality Completed courses in trigonometry, mathematics, physics, machine shop, and drafting Computer Aided Drafting and Design Associate’s degree Or any combination of education and experience that provides required skill and knowledge for successful performance Many tasks include their own work and/or the review of work of others in the department.
