About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years required License: Must have license in hand prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, PALS required; NIH and TNCC preferred Must-Have: Must have Level 2 trauma experience. Must be willing to work Charge. Floating is 100% required of all travelers. Description: This is a trauma center with 48 beds that can flex up to 62 beds total using hall beds if needed. Staffing will never exceed a 1:4 ratio for regular emergency department patients. Hold assignments could include a ratio of 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds. This emergency department averages 6.6 behavioral health patients per day. Candidates must be comfortable moving forward with these requirements. This position accepts first-time travelers. The candidate must have experience with general emergency department care for combined adult and pediatric patients. Skills should include interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, phlebotomy, starting IVs, and continuous IV sedation. Experience with IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilated patients is required. Isolation precautions and safety procedures must be understood. The patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Daily census management is important as the facility has an average census of 179 patients. An interdisciplinary support system is in place, including but not limited to physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. Candidates are required to float within the hospital or to affiliate facilities as needed.
