Job Summary We are committed to caring for patients with purpose and integrity. Join us as a Special Procedures Tech with Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. Key Responsibilities General Statement of Duties: Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast‐enhanced radiographs and fluoroscopic images that aid physicians in diagnosing and treating disease. Responsible for preparing and operating fluoroscopes, injecting contrast media, monitoring video displays, adjusting density and contrast, and managing sterile supplies. Essential Job Functions Demonstrate competence in positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, technical factors, and surgical assistance. Provide care to pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and adult patients. Ensure efficient workflow in the Special Procedures Department by starting patients on time and minimizing room turnaround. Use the computer system for scheduling exams, patient tracking, film tracking, and completion of exams and charge capture. Follow infection control/universal precautions, maintain cleanliness, and practice sterile techniques to prevent cross‑contamination. Maintain and care for existing IVs, potentially injecting medication under physician direction. Provide current scientific knowledge and technology in work practices, and assist in training new employees and students. Participate in departmental continuous quality improvement (CQI) monitoring, data collection, and program revision. Additional Job Functions Handle radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents, and other non‑controlled medications appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Integrate scientific knowledge and technology into work practices, and support orientation and training of new employees and students. Maintain professionalism, communicate technical and general information, and uphold a positive image with peers, medical personnel, and customers. Assist in current and future CQI monitoring, data collection, and program revisions to meet accrediting agency requirements. Comply with System and facility safety policies, use appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions. Adhere to the MHS Code of Conduct and report activities that violate applicable laws or regulations. Complete other duties as assigned.
