Schedule : 24 per week | Wednesday/ Friday and every other weekend | 10:00am - 6:30pm

What You'll Do:

The Cook prepares and serves high-quality, nutritious meals in a safe and efficient manner while following menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines. This role helps create a positive dining experience for residents by maintaining food quality, cleanliness, and compliance with all food safety standards. The Cook works collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure a well-organized kitchen and excellent service each day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
  • Accommodate special dietary needs and preferences while ensuring excellent food quality and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment that meets all food safety standards.
  • Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, mixers, and slicers.
  • Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and portion control procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and minimizing food waste.
  • Work collaboratively with Dining Services team members to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
  • Help create a positive dining experience for residents, guests, and staff.
  • Support special events, holiday meals, and other culinary initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain required certifications and comply with all federal, state, local, and organizational regulations.
  • Participate in training, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the Dining Services department.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Preferred:
  • Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, senior living, hospitality, or food service setting.
  • Culinary education or formal culinary training.
  • ServSafe Certification.
  • Allergen Certification.
  • Experience preparing meals for special diets, including low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modified diets.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
