Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) – Day Shift | Evansville, Indiana

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel nursing assignment in Evansville, Indiana. This Indiana travel nurse opportunity is ideal for a confident, adaptable RN who enjoys caring for a diverse adult patient population and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced acute-care setting. You will support patients with post-surgical needs, sepsis, COPD, CHF, urinary tract infections, and high fall risk while delivering thoughtful, evidence-based nursing care.

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Evansville, Indiana, a welcoming riverfront community known for its vibrant local culture, outdoor recreation, and affordable Midwestern lifestyle
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890–$1,990
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Anticipated Start Date: December 7, 2026; December 21, 2026 may also be available based on orientation scheduling
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekends during each six-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Unit: 41-bed Medical-Surgical unit with typical day-shift ratios of 1:4–5
• Floating: First to float within the nurse’s skill set; assignments may include nearby affiliated locations with advance notice when applicable

Travel RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; current compact license required
• At least 2 years of strong Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, with recent acute-care experience preferred
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Trauma Level II experience
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Recent Epic charting experience and the ability to complete an Epic checkoff class
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, critical-thinking, communication, and adaptability skills
• Applicants must reside outside the applicable 40-mile local radius

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical patients in a 41-bed unit
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions using Epic electronic health records
• Care for patients with post-surgical conditions, sepsis, COPD, CHF, urinary tract infections, and elevated fall risk
• Manage remote telemetry, chest tubes, NG and PEG tubes, straight catheterization and Foley catheters, ostomies, heparin infusions, blood and blood product administration, tracheostomies, and PCA therapy
• Recognize changes in patient status and escalate concerns promptly using sound clinical judgment
• Administer medications and treatments safely while following established protocols
• Collaborate with providers, nursing assistants, patients, and families to coordinate individualized care
• Float within the nurse’s competency and support team operations as patient-care needs change
• Participate in precepting students or new team members when assigned
