Job Description

Job Description

Are you the launch-focused Quality Engineer who turns data into zero-defect outcomes?

If you thrive on complex launches, OEM portals, and taming tough tolerances, you’ll feel at home here. You’ll lead quality planning and execution from APQP to PPAP, with a particular emphasis on German OEM programs.

Your Mission
  • Plan and direct quality activities that uphold customer satisfaction, quality standards, and operating system compliance.
  • Manage multi-level data collection and documentation; submit complete packages through OEM customer portals across multiple new product part launches (heavy German OEM concentration).
  • Interpret GD&T and analyze dimensional layouts to qualify production parts, samples, and prototypes.
  • Apply AIAG Core Tools—PPAP, APQP, MSA & SPC, FMEA—to build capable processes and reliable products.
  • Lead cross-functional 8D problem solving (5Y, Ishikawa, Kepner-Tregoe) to achieve verified root cause and lasting corrective action; maintain an up-to-date 8D log and CI tracking.
  • Use DOE, SPC, Pareto analysis, Cause & Effect, and Minitab to pinpoint variation and prioritize improvements.
  • Investigate internal and external concerns; verify root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Reduce scrap and customer issues by proactively improving upstream processes.
  • Define methods for discrepant material disposition and assess cost/responsibility.
  • Travel to customers and suppliers as required for containment and problem-solving.
  • Provide targeted dimensional feedback to Tool Room, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
  • Coach proper use of measurement instruments on the production floor.
  • Implement and audit IATF policies and procedures; consistently adhere to ISO14001, IATF16949, and safety requirements.
  • Contribute within metal stamping and/or weld assembly operations.
  • Work safely as a condition of employment; keep the work area clean and organized at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
Culture & Expectations
  • Reliable attendance and a commitment to the hours needed to deliver.
  • Maintain an efficient personal work area and share timely, accurate feedback.
  • Communicate effectively—written and verbal—to strengthen teamwork.
  • Positively accept instructions and duties; treat all co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • Actively support our E&E values while following company policies and procedures.
Credentials & Capabilities
  • Required education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a four-year college or university.
  • Ideal background: 5+ years of hands-on experience overseeing multi-level data collection and documentation, with OEM portal submissions across several launches (notably with German OEMs).
  • Preferred experience: 3+ years in automotive manufacturing Quality; 2+ years in a fast-paced OEM/Supplier setting; participation in IATF certification and audits.
  • Technical strengths: GD AIAG Core Tools; customer VDA audits; 8D/5Y/Ishikawa/Kepner -Tregoe; DOE, SPC, Pareto, Cause & Effect, Minitab; Plex and basic computer systems.
  • Communication & comprehension: Strong written and verbal skills; able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; capable of interpreting written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.
  • Math & problem solving: Proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and basic algebra; adept at solving practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Work style: Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-conscious, and effective at multitasking.
