Family Finder

Description Starting Salary: $45,000/yr
Position Summary: The Family Finder position's primary role will be to act as the centralized point of contact circuit 9 for all related duties in searching for immediate and extended family members of children involved in the dependency system. The Family Finder position will assist case management to explore all family connections and assess the willingness/availability of family members to participate in the dependency case process to offer the best placements for the children in care or to become a permanent connection to the child. They will connect extended family and informal supports to the family to work with improving safety concerns, permanency, and well-being of children. This position will also support the kinship peer support specialists in providing assistance to kinship caregivers as needed and as capacity allows.
Technical/Functional Expectations: 1. Family Finding: Perform detailed search of immediate family members and extended family members to complete family trees and identify possible relative placements and supports for children in care. 2. Diligent Search: Assist case management in the completion of diligent searches on relatives on dependency cases. 3. Internet Proficient: The ability to utilize multiple internet search engines as well as social media to conduct searches to identify and contact family members. 4. Data Integrity: Assists and provides internal controls to authenticate data integrity. Documents family finding efforts into statewide and ancillary databases. 5. Meeting Attendance: Attends staff meetings, in-service trainings and other meetings or conferences as necessary to share and gather information. 6. Assist kinship peer support positions: Provide assistance to kinship caregivers as needed and as capacity allows; which could include assisting the caregiver in applying for benefits, referring to level 1, linking kinship caregivers to local resources 7. Other duties as required: Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing or covering duties of other members in the child welfare system from time to time for ongoing growth and development. Sensitivity: Work effectively with and show sensitivity to cultural differences and various socio-economic backgrounds of others. 7. Ethics: Adhere to and model principles and values of Agency and System of Care by being strength-based, solution-focused, maintains highest level of integrity and ethical standards and work collaboratively with employees, partners, stakeholders and clients in all interactions. Business Experience: 1. Valid Driver's License - Essential: A valid driver's license is required in order to transports clients around the community; attend trainings and other activities throughout the County and State. 2. Strong written and verbal communication skills: Strong communication skills are essential in order to clearly and concisely coach parents if needed during Family Time sessions. Strong written skills are required as observations of client contacts will be documented in SACWIS system and emails and other requests require a professional and courteous response. 3. Strong compluter skills 4. Ability to set and adjust priorities 5. Ability to be flexible with changing demands and priorities 3.
Educational and Experience Requirements: 1. BA/BS - bachelor's degree required in a social work or related area of study from an accredited college or university required. (Related degrees are Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Counselling, Special Education, Education, Human Development, Child Development, Family Development, Marriage and Family Therapy) 2. Two years' experience working with at risk children and families preferred 3. Child Welfare Case Management Certification (Preferred) Physical Requirements: 1. Reading 2. Writing 3. Listening 4. Speaking 5. Lifting 25 pounds 6. Sitting 7. Carrying 25 pounds 8. Pulling 25 pounds 9. Pushing 25 pounds 10.
