Clinical Laboratory Technologist Trainee - Histology
$22 - $24 per hourLabcorp
Labcorp seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technologist Trainee for its Histology department in Shelton, Connecticut. The role involves processing tissue specimens, operating laboratory equipment, and performing quality control under pathologist supervision on an evening shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical grossing and specimen processing procedures following standard operating protocols
- Operate and maintain automated tissue processors, embedding units, stainers, and related equipment
- Prepare slides through microtomy, manual cover slipping, and case compilation for pathology review
- Execute quality control checks on completed cases and manage specimen logistics and documentation
- Perform safety checks, handle chemical reagents, and maintain laboratory inventory and archival systems
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; laboratory information systems experience preferred
- High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills
- Pass standardized color vision screening
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
- 3+ months clinical laboratory testing experience preferred
Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour + shift differential
