Study Abroad Advisor II Position within the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) at the University of Georgia, responsible for advising UGA students on international mobility opportunities, ensuring risk management compliance, and promoting study abroad programs. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (hour for lunch). Events may require additional hours or weekend work. Responsibilities Meet with students for scheduled advising appointments and walk‑in hours. Evaluate course equivalences for study abroad transfer credit and update the articulation database. Advise on UGA faculty‑led programs, affiliate and consortia programs, USG programs, external programs, and work/volunteer opportunities abroad. Assist with spearheading risk management efforts and serve on the OGE Overseas Emergency Response Team. Coordinate planning, publicity, registration, and logistics for UGA annual Study Abroad Fairs, International Education Week activities, and other office events. Organize and deliver informational presentations, faculty risk management training, orientations, and other sessions. Promote education abroad and scholarship opportunities on campus and beyond; identify target groups for recruitment. Develop manuals, brochures, applications, policy statements, and other materials for student and faculty orientations and services. Design and produce marketing materials (posters, flyers, social media posts) for Global Education events and initiatives. Supervise student support staff and train Junior Advisors to deliver Education Abroad 101 sessions. Serve on UGA boards and committees; attend meetings of study abroad staff and external colleagues; represent UGA at national and regional meetings and conferences. Conduct site visits to external programs as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience plus 2 years of professional experience. Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to prepare and present workshops and promotional materials. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access); background in database management and web page development preferred. Strong organizational and administrative abilities. Interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially with students, administrators, and faculty. Prior study or work abroad experience; previous participation in semester or year‑long study abroad program preferred; event planning experience helpful. Attention to detail. Ability to speak in large crowds, sit or stand for long periods, and drive a vehicle. Working Conditions Requires speaking in large crowds for orientations, standing or sitting for extended periods.
