IT Business Analyst

Overview CMB.TECH is one of the largest listed, diversified and future-proof maritime groups in the world with a combined fleet of about 250 vessels: dry bulk vessels, crude oil tankers, chemical tankers, container vessels and offshore energy vessels. The Role To strengthen our IT Team, we are looking for a motivated, experienced and dynamic IT Business Analyst . As an IT Business Analyst , you act as the key link between the business and the IT team. You analyse and design business processes and translate them into practical application solutions, with Odoo as the core platform . You support users, lead implementation initiatives, and identify opportunities for process improvement and optimisation. Responsibilities First-line support: Act as the primary point of contact for application-related queries within your assigned business domains. Resolve straightforward user and how-to queries independently. For more complex issues, engage the relevant software vendor or implementation partner and take ownership of the follow-up to ensure the solution is successfully delivered and deployed into production. Process analysis and application requirements: Analyse and design business processes, or document existing processes, ensuring they are effectively supported by Odoo and other business applications. Identify additional functional requirements and ensure strong alignment between IT capabilities and operational business needs. Odoo implementation and configuration: Support users across existing Odoo modules, lead the further roll-out of Odoo into new business areas and functionalities, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement. Configure modules, coordinate data migration activities, collaborate with external Odoo partners, and ensure quality through structured testing and user acceptance processes. Solution design and integrations: Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications and define the scope of custom developments and integrations with Azure, Oracle NetSuite and other platforms. Assess and oversee these initiatives through to successful delivery, working closely with business stakeholders and the IT development team. Testing: Develop test scenarios, coordinate testing cycles (functional, integration and user acceptance testing) and ensure solution quality ahead of go-live. Where appropriate, leverage AI tools to enhance test coverage and improve documentation efficiency. User training and documentation: Deliver training on new and enhanced Odoo functionalities and produce practical documentation, including user guides, process flows and system manuals. Adapt your approach to the specific needs of each user group. Project management: Plan and manage IT projects within the team’s portfolio, ensuring effective control of scope, budget and timelines. Keep the IT Program Manager and relevant stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle, applying an Agile or hybrid delivery approach as appropriate. AI in practice: Actively use AI tools such as Claude (Anthropic) , Microsoft Copilot and Azure OpenAI services in your day-to-day work for analysis, documentation, testing support and process design. Support colleagues within your business domains in identifying and integrating these capabilities into their daily workflows, always in line with CMB.TECH’s AI governance framework . Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of expertise gained through experience. At least 3 years' experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Consultant, preferably within ERP or operational application environments. Fluent in written and spoken English; proficiency in Dutch would be an advantage. Hands-on experience with Odoo in an implementation or support environment is desirable. Ability to analyse and model business processes, preferably using BPMN or a comparable methodology. Experience with ERP integrations, including data mapping, interface testing and API integrations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear functional specifications and facilitate effective meetings. Demonstrable experience in developing end-to-end test scenarios and coordinating testing cycles. Experience in project coordination and documentation, ideally within Agile or Scrum environments. Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical specialists (such as developers and architects) and non-technical stakeholders. AI-literate, with practical experience using AI tools, a sound understanding of prompt engineering principles, and the ability to recognise when AI adds value and when it does not. Workplace and Environment Based at our headquarters in Antwerp, with the opportunity for hybrid working. Occasional travel to other offices for meetings, training and project-related activities. Flexibility to work additional hours during intensive project phases or go-live periods.
