Working Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Location: Amherst

Position Summary:

Join our growing team! Reporting directly to the Billing Manager, this role plays an important part in supporting and improving departmental productivity by assisting across multiple revenue cycle functions, including charge entry, payment posting, accounts receivable (A/R) follow-up, and participation in special projects. This position provides coverage where needed, assisting different teams to maintain workflow continuity, resolve billing issues, and ensure timely and accurate claim processing and reimbursement. Responsibilities of Position:

• Prepare, review, and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and payers
• Post payments, adjustments, and patient payments into the billing system
• Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims to ensure timely reimbursement
• Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim discrepancies
• Assist patients and clinical staff with billing inquiries
• Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information
• Collaborate with front desk staff, coding, clinical teams and managers to resolve billing issues
• Assist the Billing Manager with special projects related to billing operations and process improvements
• Perform additional administrative and operational tasks as directed by the Billing Manager

Qualifications

• Strong general office skills, including typing skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft windows programs including Excel and Word
• 13 years of medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle experience (preferred)
• Strong understanding of medical billing processes, insurance claims, and payer guidelines.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance

Working Conditions:

• Normal working environment, typical of most office settings
• Minimal physical effort, requires some lifting of files, usually not in excess of 15 pounds.

Compensation:

• Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range
• Rates are commensurate with experience
