Operations Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY Within a division, the Operations Supervisor – Hauling Operations supervises collections activities across lines of business (commercial, residential, roll‑off (industrial), and container delivery and pickup) in a geographically dispersed area. The supervisor oversees drivers and helpers, working with the Operations Manager and General Manager to implement initiatives that drive functional excellence and meet budget goals. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Safety – Lead to achieve safety goals; remove unsafe conditions from routes; collaborate with sales and maintenance to eliminate hazards; oversee accident prevention programs and loss‑control initiatives. Customer Experience – Deliver service that meets or exceeds expectations; address missed pickup goals; resolve unusual service requests and equipment breakdowns; communicate with stakeholders to improve the overall experience. Efficiency – Set productivity goals; manage labor hours and disposal expenses; lead drivers to exceed productivity targets; create, modify, and improve routes; reduce route hours using service conversions and container upsizing; execute operational plans that support the division’s budget. Employee Engagement – Foster a collaborative team environment; build and develop talent; provide coaching for career advancement; perform other job‑related duties as needed. QUALIFICATIONS 1 year of lead or supervisory experience. Strong leadership skills with proven judgment in hiring and developing high‑performance teams. Process‑oriented, results‑driven, and capable of setting and pursuing aggressive goals. Demonstrated problem‑solving, analytical, critical‑thinking, and decision‑making skills. Collaborative with a focus on building and working with teams. Creative thinker who challenges conventional solutions. Demonstrates and promotes ethical behavior. Ability to direct a large staff.
