Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior GCP Data Engineer with over 10 years of experience in designing and building scalable data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Apache Spark, Scala, and Python, GKE along with exposure to modern frontend technologies such as Angular or React.
The candidate will be responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines, enabling large-scale data processing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Build high-performance big data processing solutions using Apache Spark and Scala.
- Develop data engineering components using Python.
- Work with GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, and Composer.
- Collaborate with frontend teams (Angular / React) to support data-driven applications and APIs.
- Implement data quality, validation, and governance practices.
- Optimize performance of large-scale data processing systems.
- Participate in architecture discussions and provide recommendations for data platform improvements.
- Work with DevOps teams to support CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of overall experience in data engineering or software engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Expertise in Apache Spark and Scala for large-scale data processing.
- Proficiency in Python for data engineering workflows.
- Experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage.
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and data pipeline design.
- Experience with REST APIs and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with Angular or React (for data-driven applications).
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.
Requirements
- Experience with data orchestration tools (Airflow / Cloud Composer).
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with streaming frameworks such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.
- GCP certifications such as Professional Data Engineer.
