The opportunity

Our Finance Consulting practice is a core driver of the Americas Consulting growth agenda, with the Technology, Media & Entertainment and Telecommunications (TMT) sectors representing a significant share of the portfolio. We are seeking a Manager with deep Record-to-Report (R2R) and/or Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) expertise and Media & Entertainment (M&E) sector fluency to lead the design and delivery of technology-enabled finance transformations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end R2R workstreams across the full taxonomy: master data, fixed assets, projects, periodic close, intercompany, sub-consolidation and corporate consolidations, and financial reporting.
• Lead end-to-end FP&A workstreams across the full taxonomy: Long-range/strategic planning, revenue planning, cost of sales planning, other SG&A planning, workforce planning, EBITDA planning, and cashflow planning, Driver-based Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting and Scenario management.
• Assess and redesign Record-to-Report and FP&A operating models, processes, and organizational structures; develop and deliver transformation initiatives that improve close and reporting effectiveness, planning and forecasting capabilities, governance, and overall finance function performance.
• Own business process design deliverables - L3 and L4 process flows, key design decisions and assumptions, functional and reporting requirements, KPIs, and master and transactional data requirements.
• Facilitate design and solutioning workshops with client Global Process Owners (GPO), business unit leads, subject matter resources (SMR) and Technology stakeholders; drive to decisions and document dispositions.
• Manage day-to-day delivery: workplan, RAID log, scope, deliverable quality and engagement economics, including onshore/offshore mix and global delivery leverage.
• Translate R2R pain points into quantified value cases — close cycle time, close efficiency, manual journal entries, and automated account reconciliations.
• Translate FP&A pain points into quantified value cases — forecasting effectiveness, forecast accuracy, budget cycle duration, forecast cycle duration, revenue opportunities identify, working capital improvements identified, and cost reduction opportunities realized.
• Coach and develop staff and seniors; contribute to proposals, Phase 0 assessments and sector thought leadership.

Sector-specific knowledge: Media & Entertainment 

• Film and television title accounting: understanding of studio and content finance processes including title cost accounting, ultimate-based amortization and forecast management, participation and residuals (P&R) calculations and settlements, content asset impairment, title profitability reporting, and integration of production, rights, distribution and financial systems supporting the content lifecycle.
• Content cost accounting and amortization: management of film, television and sports programming rights assets; capitalization policies, impairment considerations, amortization methodologies, reporting under large content portfolios.
• Close, consolidation and reporting complexity: legal entity and business-unit consolidation across studios, networks, streaming platforms, parks and experiences; intercompany eliminations; multi-currency reporting; carve-outs and acquisitions; and management reporting across diverse revenue streams and distribution channels.
• Streaming and D2C financial performance: subscriber, ARPU, churn, acquisition cost and lifetime value metrics embedded into forecasting and management reporting; revenue, content cost and profitability analysis across subscription and advertising-supported business models.
• Advertising, distribution and content forecasting: revenue planning across linear, digital and programmatic advertising; affiliate and distribution revenues; theatrical releases; content licensing; sports rights; and scenario modeling for audience performance, advertising demand and release schedules.
• Performance management and profitability analytics: title-, franchise-, channel-, platform- and customer-level profitability reporting; variance analysis; KPI development; margin performance monitoring; and executive dashboards supporting strategic and operating decisions.
• Financial planning complexity: annual budgets, rolling forecasts and long-range plans that account for seasonality, production schedules, release calendars, advertising market volatility, subscriber growth and major sporting or entertainment events.
• Ecosystem awareness: studios, broadcasters, streaming platforms, distributors, advertisers, agencies, sports leagues, content owners and production partners, and how business model differences impact forecasting assumptions, financial reporting and performance management requirements.

Technology experience

Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: 

• SAP S/4HANA (Financial Accounting, Controlling, Asset Accounting, Project Systems)
• SAP Group Reporting, OneStream Consolidations, or other consolidation tools
• SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and/or Anaplan
• Blackline, Trintech, and other enterprise close management solutions
• Fiori Reporting and/or bolt-on reporting systems/tools such as BW, AoE, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA a plus. 
• 6+ years of progressive experience in finance transformation, R2R or FP&A process design; Controllership or FP&A operations; consulting experience strongly preferred. 
• Proven Media & Entertainment sector experience. 
• Strong executive communication, workshop facilitation and written deliverable skills.

• The salary range for this job is:
  • New York City, Boston, and Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices – $154,000 to $256,700
  • Bay Area California offices – $160,500 to $267,400
  • All other offices locations in the US, including Sacramento – $128,400 to $235,300
• Individual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
