Talent ACQ is running a confidential search on behalf of a growing electrical engineering consultancy that serves architects, contractors, and building owners in the Northeast. The firm is small, fast-moving, and early in its growth curve. The client is identified on the first call with our recruiter.

This is the firm’s next design hire and a ground-floor seat. You will report directly to the owner, and you will help set the standards the next engineers work inside of.

WHAT THIS ROLE PRODUCES

This is not a task list. Here is what success looks like twelve months in:

▪ You hold 70% or better utilization on billable project work.

▪ You hit 95% or better on-time delivery against internal and external deadlines, with no surprises along the way.

▪ You lead electrical on multiple projects from concept through permit with minimal rework.

▪ You build and actually use the firm’s standards, checklists, and detail libraries, so the next project moves faster than the last one.

▪ You manage outside drafting and modeling resources and project assistants so drawings go out clean and coordinated.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

▪ Design of building electrical systems for renovation and new construction: power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm and life safety, emergency and backup power, and low-voltage systems.

▪ Load calculations, service sizing, panel schedules, and code compliance review against the NEC, energy code, and applicable local codes.

▪ Construction documents, plans, and specifications. Submittal review and RFI response.

▪ Early and constant coordination with architects, contractors, utilities, vendors, city officials, and AHJs, so decisions stay connected and the project keeps moving.

▪ Site visits, field verification, and as-builts. OAC and coordination meetings.

▪ Design decisions made for reliability, maintainability, and future use, not just for the next permit submission.

▪ Aggressive use of AI and LLM tools to speed up calculations, QA/QC, document drafting, and coordination. The firm treats this as an advantage, not a novelty.

WHAT YOU BRING

▪ 5 to 7+ years of electrical engineering experience with a strong focus on building and AEC electrical design. A PE license is not required.

▪ Working command of the NEC, energy codes, and life-safety requirements.

▪ Comfort managing remote and contract drafting and modeling resources. You do not need a large in-house CAD team to produce.

▪ Clear communication. You can explain a technical decision to a non-engineer and keep a project team coordinated.

▪ Self-direction and organization. You can own projects in a remote, fast-moving environment.

▪ A habit of using standards, checklists, and systems, and improving them rather than working around them.

▪ The ability to keep moving under imperfect conditions without slowing down under pressure.

▪ Initiative. You anticipate what is needed, manage the people around you, and do not wait to be told.

▪ Ownership. You do not blame people or circumstances. You fix the problem, close the loop, and keep learning.

▪ A standard for yourself and the people around you. Work is not a box to check.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

▪ Base salary of $120,000.

▪ First-year total compensation up to $150,000 or more.

▪ $10,000 sign-on bonus.

▪ Annual profit sharing of 1 to 9% of base salary.

▪ Unlimited, fully flexible paid time off.

▪ $2,000 home office stipend, which rolls over to health and fitness if unused.

▪ Health and fitness stipend, including gym membership coverage.

▪ PE licensure fees and continuing education reimbursed.

▪ Mileage reimbursed at the standard IRS rate for site visits and business travel.

▪ Fully remote, with occasional site visits in the region. MUST BE BASED IN MASSACHUSETTS.
