Position Overview

A growing civil engineering firm is seeking a Project Engineer specializing in transportation to support roadway design and project delivery in Houston, Texas. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional who can lead technical work, coordinate plan production, and collaborate effectively with project teams and public-sector clients.

Location and Work Arrangement

• Location: Houston, Texas
• Work arrangement: Hybrid and on-site
• Flexible hybrid scheduling may include work from home on Fridays, with other in-office expectations determined by the team and project needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the design and delivery of transportation and roadway projects.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate engineering plans and related project deliverables.
• Provide technical direction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders.
• Help maintain project quality, schedules, and delivery standards.
• Support and mentor less-experienced team members as appropriate.
• Contribute in a collaborative environment and remain actively involved in technical project work.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Texas Professional Engineer license.
• At least eight years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong roadway or transportation design and plan-production experience.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer .
• Ability to provide technical oversight and deliver high-quality engineering work.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to work in a hands-on, team-focused environment.
• Valid Texas driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Experience delivering projects for TxDOT, the City of Houston, or comparable public agencies.
• Experience mentoring team members or coordinating multidisciplinary technical work.

Compensation

• Anticipated base salary: $120,000 to $150,000 annually
• Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
• An annual performance-based discretionary bonus may also be available.
