GNC Software Engineer (Hybrid)

Description:

Our client headquartered in Virginia is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Software Engineer based in Huntsville, AL. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and offers growth opportunities in a hybrid workplace with two remote days. The GNC Software Engineer will perform kinematic and dynamic simulations on Autopilot Control Systems utilizing linear systems theory.

The ideal candidate has physics domain knowledge and algorithmic development of 6-DoF motion models in the Aerospace, Automotive or Robotics industry. Possesses proven analytical, written & verbal communication skills and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a multi-discipline team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Develop & analyze autopilot and control algorithms and contribute to high-fidelity simulation development
• Build autopilot and control laws for dynamic systems
• Perform target state estimation, filtering and sensor fusion
• Develop & maintain kinematic simulations and models to support system design & verification
• Interface with various external & internal stakeholders including systems, software and test engineering teams
• Support Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and system-level testing
• Assist with field testing and customer supported test activities as required

Requirements:

• Experience with state estimation techniques, including Kalman filtering or multi-sensor fusion
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++, Simulink or other high-level programming language
• Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%)
• Familiarity with missile, UAV or aerospace vehicle systems a plus
• Experience with real-time embedded flight control software, sensor dynamic modeling and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) & Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test automation a plus

Qualifications:

• 3+ Years of Controls Engineering or Guidance, Navigation and Control experience
• 2+ Years of 6-DoF (Six Degrees of Freedom) Simulation and Guidance Algorithms
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year College or University in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s or PhD a plus)
• Must be US Citizen and eligible to obtain US DoD Secret Clearance (active clearance a plus)
