Location: Chicago, IL | Bethesda, MD | Boca Raton, FL About the Opportunity: My client, one of the fastest-growing private equity-backed property management companies in the multifamily space, is looking to hire a Controller - Multifamily. This is a hands‑on leadership role with real strategic weight. You will own the entire accounting function, report directly to senior leadership, and have visibility into every corner of a growing and complex portfolio. This is not a processing role. The right person is a builder who wants to put their fingerprints on the financial infrastructure of a company that is acquiring aggressively and scaling fast. Responsibilities: Own month‑end and year‑end close across multiple entities, including consolidated reporting up to the corporate level Lead a distributed accounting team and serve as the connective tissue between the books and executive decision‑making Drive cash flow forecasting, treasury oversight, and liquidity planning for a portfolio in active growth mode Build and enforce internal controls that hold up as the company scales and the entity count grows Manage all third‑party financial relationships including auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners Evaluate and improve the tech stack, including accounting platforms and reporting tools, to get ahead of operational complexity Deliver owner‑level reporting and performance analysis that informs acquisition and asset management strategy Partner cross‑functionally with operations and asset management to translate numbers into decisions Must‑Have Skills: Controller - Multifamily: 15+ years in accounting with at least 5 years in multifamily or real estate Deep GAAP knowledge and hands‑on experience with multi‑entity consolidations Experience with property management accounting platforms such as Sage Intacct, Yardi, RealPage, or similar Nice‑to‑Have Skills: Experience managing offshore or distributed accounting teams Background supporting portfolio company reporting in a private equity or consolidation environment #J-18808-Ljbffr Talently
