Registered Nurse (RN) Bariatric Program Per Diem

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Position Summary The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others in the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available. They are responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. Is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. Responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers. Responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement. The Registered Nurse, as an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs. Responsible for data abstraction and maintenance of the MBSAQIP Bariatric Program Database. Will collect, verify, and enter clinical, administrative and demographic data using automated and manual systems, maintain system integrity and generate internal and external reports, as appropriate. Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. An RN License in New Jersey is required. A minimum of one (1) year experience in a hospital surgical department, surgery clinic, clinical research, or medical records is required. A minimum of three (3) years experience in acute care nursing is required. Clinical chart review and abstraction experience preferred. Ability to periodically attend in-person professional development seminars offered at various annual meetings, such as ASMBS Week, ACS Quality and Safety Conference, or ACS Clinical Congress. Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS is required. National Certification: Bariatric Nurse Certification (CBN) or an in-progress certification preferred. Scheduling Requirements Per Diem, Day Shift Ability to work remotely outside onsite meetings and surveys. Essential Functions The surgical clinical reviewer is required to: Fulfill 100 percent of case abstraction duties of metabolic and bariatric procedures performed at the center, complete ongoing training, and recertification requirements, retrieve, and enter long-term follow-up data on all bariatric surgical patients, and fulfill requests for outcomes data and reports from the MBS Committee and other appropriate personnel.
