Take the first step towards a rewarding career by applying today.Position Overview:The Director of Engineering is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for preserving the integrity, elegance, and performance of a distinctive independent luxury resort. Unlike branded environments, this role requires a highly adaptable leader who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution, ensuring the property delivers a unique, personalized guest experience while maintaining exceptional operational standards.Key Responsibilities:Serve as a strategic partner to the General Manager and ownership groupContribute to long-term property planning, asset preservation, and brand positioningBuild and lead a high-performing, service-oriented engineering teamOversee all maintenance and engineering functions across guest rooms, villas, public spaces, restaurants, spa, and groundsMaintain the property's distinctive design, finishes, and luxury aesthetic standardsEnsure all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pools, irrigation, life safety) operate flawlesslyActively engage in day-to-day operations, stepping in when needed to troubleshoot or resolve complex issuesMaintain strong visibility across the property and respond quickly to operational needsLead by example in both technical expertise and service excellenceDevelop and execute capital expenditure plans aligned with ownership goalsOversee renovations, upgrades, and special projects with a focus on quality craftsmanship and minimal guest disruptionSource and manage local contractors, artisans, and specialty vendorsPrepare and manage departmental budgets with a strong focus on cost efficiency and ROIImplement energy conservation and sustainability initiatives without compromising guest comfortOptimize inventory, tools, and staffing levelsEnsure full compliance with Florida building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standardsOversee emergency preparedness, hurricane readiness, and disaster recovery planningConduct routine inspections and enforce preventative maintenance programsCollaborate closely with Rooms, Food & Beverage, and Spa teams to ensure seamless guest experiencesRespond to guest concerns with urgency and discretion, maintaining a luxury service mindsetSupport customized guest requests and unique property experiencesQualifications:8–12+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within luxury hospitality or high-end residential environmentsExperience in independent or boutique properties strongly preferredDeep technical knowledge of resort systems, including pools, water features, and coastal property maintenanceProven success managing renovations and capital projects in an operating environmentStrong leadership presence with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approachFamiliarity with CMMS and energy management systemsCore Competencies:Entrepreneurial mindset and operational flexibilityStrong ownership mentality and accountabilityAttention to detail with a passion for craftsmanship and design integrityAbility to balance luxury standards with practical executionDecisive leadership in high-pressure situations (e.g., weather events, system failures)Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organizationWhat Are We Looking For?Why This Role Is Unique:Opportunity to shape and maintain a one-of-a-kind luxury property without corporate constraintsHigh visibility with ownership and executive leadershipAbility to directly influence guest experience, design standards, and operational philosophyGreater autonomy in decision-making, vendor selection, and project executionCompensation & Benefits:Competitive salaryPerformance-based bonusComprehensive benefits packageRelocation assistance (if applicable)Compensation:$120,000 - $135,000Pyramid Global Hospitality is an equal opportunity employer.
