RN - Correctional Health Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: One (1) year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Current licensure in the state of employment Certifications: Valid driver's license Must-Have: Registered Nurse Nursing care Medication administration Patient assessment Emergency procedures Description:The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care.This includes executing Licensed Independent Provider orders.Dispensing and administering medications.Assisting Licensed Independent Providers in examinations and treatment of patients.Applying nursing and supervisory techniques required in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.Performing all technical and clinical procedures within the scope of education and licensure.Applying appropriate nursing skills in the area of treatment of inmates/residents.Attending sick call with the physician to see inmates/residents.Preparing a list of inmates/residents to be examined.Preparing the examining room and equipment.Operating pill call, dispensing medication, and documenting as required.Calling Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders.Examining and assessing new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries.Referring inmates/residents to the emergency room or other healthcare facilities as required.Performing emergency procedures as needed.Notifying Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.Assisting in coordinating professional medical services provided by contract personnel.Monitoring inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate.Providing guidance and supervision to nursing care provided by staff.Maintaining a good working relationship with facility staff and providers.Utilizing established policies and procedures in decision-making.Evaluating the provision of medical services to prevent fraud or duplication.Maintaining confidentiality of all medical records.Assisting with the review of medical files for documentation compliance.Monitoring all potential catastrophic illnesses.Auditing pharmacy use for adherence to formulary.Complying with pharmacy laws concerning controlled substances.Observing and recording inmate/resident behavior.Inspecting the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband.Providing health counseling and health education as required.Assisting in preparing and maintaining various records and logs.Reading, analyzing, comprehending, and interpreting medical and technical procedures.Reviewing, processing, and responding to lawsuits.Facilitating accreditation of the medical program by providing required medical services.Preparing safety and accident reports as required by policies.Taking appropriate action in cases of serious incidents and emergencies. #J-18808-Ljbffr Cynet HealthStaff
