These patients typically have had a heart attack or are experiencing chest pain. Some of the procedures on this unit include stints, cath lab procedures, balloon pumps, ECMO, and pacers. The CCU is a loyal, fast-paced unit that holds safety and quality in the highest regard and empowers caregivers to speak up. This unit is known for its high patient satisfaction ratings, low turnover and longevity and shared love for the adrenaline this unit and work provides. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients and their families. This role improves patient care and the overall patient experience by providing direct support with activities of daily living, answering call lights, assisting with comfort measures and serving as an important communication link between the patient and RN.Caregivers stay in this role because of the supportive team culture, meaningful patient interactions and opportunities for professional development. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire periodNursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hireMilitary experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be consideredPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school programPhysical Requirements:Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
