Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room – Night Shift – Port Lavaca, TX – Relocation Candidates Welcome

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment in the Emergency Department of a 9-bed critical access hospital in Port Lavaca, Texas. The selected candidate will provide emergency nursing care, assess and triage patients, administer treatments and medications, monitor patient conditions, and collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Candidates must have an active Texas RN license or applicable compact RN privilege and current TNCC, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and BLS certifications. A minimum of five years of Emergency Room nursing experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Identify urgent and life-threatening conditions and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and established protocols.
• Monitor patient conditions and responses to treatment, escalating concerns as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the web-based T-System electronic medical record (EMR).
• Follow infection prevention protocols, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards.
• Support emergency department operations in a critical access hospital setting.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Room RN experience.
• Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or applicable compact RN privilege.
• Current TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
