Job Summary

The Automotive Sales Manager is responsible for leading, coaching, and motivating the sales team to meet and exceed monthly sales and gross profit objectives. This role oversees the day-to-day sales floor operations, works closely with customers to close deals, manages inventory turn, and ensures an outstanding customer experience from initial contact through delivery.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing sales team
• Set and monitor individual and team sales goals; conduct regular performance reviews
• Lead daily sales meetings and ongoing sales training on product knowledge, negotiation, and closing techniques
• Work the sales floor alongside sales consultants, assisting with customer interactions and desking deals
• Review and approve deal structures to ensure proper gross profit and compliance with dealership policy
• Partner with the General Manager on inventory management, pricing strategy, and merchandising
• Monitor and respond to online leads, phone-ups, and internet inquiries in a timely manner
• Ensure CRM is used consistently and accurately by all sales staff
• Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and dealership policies regarding vehicle sales
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to drive repeat and referral business
• Track and report on key sales metrics (closing ratio, gross per unit, CSI scores, etc.)
• Foster a positive, professional, and customer-focused showroom culture

Qualifications

• 2+ years of automotive sales management experience preferred
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and gross profit targets
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
• Working knowledge of CRM systems and dealership management software
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
• High school diploma required; college degree a plus
