Position Description

Heavy Equipment Operator: Level 2

• • Must be able to operate at a High Production speed on at least one of the following machines: Bulldozer (up to D9), Excavator (up to CAT 349), Motor Grader (up to CAT 140M). Any Finishing experience is welcome.
  • Create level surfaces, grade slopes to specifications, remove material and thoroughly fill voids using plans or our survey team for guidance.
  • Maintain equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance tasks and/or making minor repairs as required.
  • Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure that it is in proper operating condition.
  • Work with the Superintendent or Foreman to help ensure that work is flowing smoothly throughout the day.
  • Help the Superintendents and Foreman identify areas needing improvement in our production processes.
  • Perform general labor as needed.
  • Mentor and teach colleagues with less experience
  • Attend trainings and safety meetings
  • Store and clean machinery at its designated location and note any deficiencies

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• • Able to read drawings, plans and blueprints
  • Familiar with staking and checking grade
  • Possesses strong math and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to process information quickly and accurately
  • Dependable and able to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team of individuals
  • Must know the consistency of material and understand compaction techniques

• Safety Sensitive Position
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have the ability to work extended hours as required by the workload.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in all types of terrain
  • Able to meet all physical requirements such as standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting 50 pound or more.
  • Ability to work around loud noises and can tolerate being exposed to odors, gasses, dust, etc.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, and in excavated areas.
