Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN)

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position with a schedule of 3 x 12-hour shifts, primarily during the day with some late nights, holidays, and on-call duties as needed. Currently, there are no weekend shifts.

Job Description

The Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN) plays a critical role in performing diagnostic electrophysiology procedures and interventions within a clinical setting. Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, ensuring that all equipment is operational, monitoring read-outs and recordings during procedures, and assisting in lab analysis and interpretation of data, communicating any issues to the patient's physician or specialist. The EP RN will also assist physicians with the implementation of pacing and other permanent devices related to cardiac health.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for electrophysiology studies and ablations as the circulator.
• Assist in maintaining fluids for ablation catheters and providing assistance with ablation devices.
• Document all procedures accurately using the Epic system.
• Coordinate with the Charge Nurse and vendors to ensure availability of supplies and personnel for scheduled procedures.
• Ensure patient focus and safety during all procedures, including monitoring sedated patients.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN License in New York.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Proficient in moderate sedation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cardiac implants and structural heart scrub is preferred.
• Familiarity with GE systems (MacLab & CardioLab) is a plus.
