Certified Surgical Technologists w/BONUS - 5235

We have a new need for four Certified Surgical Technologists at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. CORE Duties: Perform the full spectrum of sterile techniques, setting up surgical trays, preparing and draping patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative dressings. Ensuresurgicalpacks are cleaned and packed for sterilization after every procedure, to include restockingsurgicalsupplies. Maintain a clean, safe environment for the patient either by active participation in the cleaning of clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment, or by guiding other personnel in the environmental maintenance. CertifiedSurgicalTechnologists pull supplies for next day cases, perform scrub duties forsurgicalprocedures, prepare and maintain sterile fields, anticipatesurgeon needs, handlesurgicalinstruments and supplies, and comply with sterile processing and infection control standards. Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:45am - 11:00pm. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8-houror 10-hour period, to include an uncompensated 30-minute or 60-minute lunch break, respectively. In no instance will the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) or Part Time Equivalent (PTE) employee be required to provide services more than 80 hours per two-week period. No on-call, or Weekends! Minimum Qualifications: Education: Certificate - Graduate fromSurgicalTechnology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, or Air Force) forsurgicaltechnicians,surgicaltechnologists or operating room technicians. Experience: Must have at least one year of recent post-grad clinical experience within the past 2-years as a SurgicalTechnician or Operating Room Technician. Minimum one year of recent Operating Room scrub experience (within the last year) Knowledge of aseptic technique andsurgicalinstrumentation Certification: Certified as aSurgicalTechnologist (CST) from The National Board ofSurgicalTechnology andSurgicalAssisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or possess a MilitaryOccupational Specialty (MOS) certification as asurgicaltechnician and/or operatingroom technician. Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification. Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
