Description

American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Surgical Stepdown unit requiring 1+ year of stepdown experience in an acute care hospital and current LPN license (if applicable) for a day-shift travel assignment.

Details

• Work on a 29-bed Surgical Stepdown unit
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Cares for post-op patients (high acuity surgeries or lower acuity surgical patients requiring cardiac drips, BiPAP, etc.), trauma, and high acuity medical patients
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Day shift schedule, 0700-1930
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend or as required by facility
• No call requirements
• May float as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit

Requirements

• Current LPN license eligible for or currently licensed in Missouri, if applicable
• BLS certification from AHA required
• IV certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Stepdown experience in an acute care hospital
• Proof of flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required November 1-April 1; declinations not accepted

Additional Information

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
• Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort
• Maintains professional accountability and evaluates effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of information
• Requires standing and walking most of the shift with frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Physical demands include push/pull/grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, and minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Black scrubs required, meeting Mercy dress code standards
• RTO of 5 days or less allowed but must be made up during the assignment
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
• Local candidates limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius
