Licensed Veterinary Technician - Surgery

Location: New York, NY
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $34-$44/hour
Schedule: Multiple 4-day shifts available

Position Overview

We are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) with strong surgical and anesthesia experience to join a busy veterinary surgery team. The ideal candidate will have advanced anesthesia skills, excellent patient-care abilities, and the confidence to respond effectively during emergency and critical-care situations.

This role provides an opportunity to work alongside veterinary professionals in a collaborative, advanced-care environment while supporting surgical procedures, anesthesia, recovery, and post-operative patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia and surgical nursing support.

• Assist with patient care from admission through discharge.

• Monitor patients during anesthesia, surgery, and recovery.

• Perform phlebotomy, catheter placement, and post-operative care.

• Support veterinarians with procedures and treatment plans.

• Handle emergency care, resuscitation, and critical cases.

• Operate and maintain surgical/anesthesia equipment.

• Maintain accurate records, inventory, and a clean work area.

Required Qualifications

•    Active New York State Veterinary Technician license/permit required.

•   Strong veterinary anesthesia and patient-monitoring skills.

•   Experience with critical/emergency anesthesia and resuscitation.

•   Proficiency in phlebotomy, catheter placement, and post-operative care.

•   Ability to safely handle and restrain animals up to 50 lbs .

•    Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced veterinary anesthesia experience.

• Surgical or specialty veterinary experience preferred.

• Strong emergency and critical-care skills.

• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  

Available Schedules

Multiple schedules are available:

Overnight anesthesia on-call rotation may be required.
