Job Summary

VIZ Media, the world leader in English-language versions of manga and anime (Japanese comics and animation), is looking for a temporary Staff Accountant, Revenue to support our Finance department for a period of 6 months. The Revenue Accounting team is responsible for ensuring that revenue is captured and recognized correctly per agreements and transaction reports while ensuring that revenue recognition is US GAAP compliant. The Staff Accountant, Revenue will perform revenue accounting, billing, collections, and related general accounting functions for assigned business units.

What You'll Do:

• Process customer payments received through bank wire, ACH, and checks
• Process invoices timely and accurately in accordance with the agreements and sub-licensing reports
• Prepare transaction data for recording in the accounting system
• Collect the monthly and quarterly reports from sub-licensees to compute and record licensing revenue
• Track past due invoices and work with customers and internal teams to collect past due payments
• Handle ad-hoc projects as assigned

The Ideal Candidate Has:

• At least 2 years of experience with Billing or Revenue, processing a large amount of data
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position
• Basic GAAP accounting knowledge
• Experience in reviewing contractual agreements for financial terms required
• Financial ERP systems experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including familiarity with formulas and pivot tables
• Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite is a strong plus
• Ability to maintain a great attention to detail when working with large amounts of data
• Ability to take the lead, work independently, manage requests, and support billing for multiple individuals and teams.
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously

Work Environment & Schedule

Location: The temporary Staff Accountant, Revenue position is open to candidates local to the San Francisco Bay Area. The Staff Accountant should expect to work onsite 1 day per week at our San Francisco office (Wednesdays).

Schedule: This is a temporary full-time position with general hours of 9 am to 5 pm Pacific Time, with some flexibility outside of core hours as needed. This temporary position will run for approximately 6 months, from August 2026 through February 2027.

Compensation: $50 per hour
