Whiting's Wallpaper & Paints, a locally owned paint store specializing in Benjamin Moore paints and Hunter Douglas window treatments, is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our team.

About the Role
As a Sales Associate, you'll be the face of our store — helping homeowners and contractors find the right products for their projects, mixing and tinting paint to exact specifications, and keeping our store running smoothly day to day. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has an interest in home improvement, and wants to build product knowledge in a hands-on retail environment. No prior paint experience? No problem — we provide full training.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers, providing knowledgeable guidance on Benjamin Moore paint products, finishes, and Hunter Douglas window treatments
• Accurately tint and mix paint to customer specifications
• Unload and stock incoming shipments, and maintain organized, well-presented sales floor and stockroom
• Operate the point-of-sale system and process transactions
• Build and maintain relationships with both retail customers and professional contractors
• Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products and services
• Answer questions about product application, coverage, and recommendations
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment
• Assist with inventory counts and restocking as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid driver's license required
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Sales-minded approach with a genuine desire to help customers succeed with their projects
• Ability to lift and unload boxes/paint cans (up to 50 lbs)
• Comfortable using computers/POS systems — no prior tinting experience needed, we'll train you
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team

Nice to Have

• An eye for color and design, with the ability to help customers with color selection and coordination
• Prior retail, sales, or paint/hardware industry experience
• Contractor-facing experience or familiarity with the trades
