Position Overview

We are seeking a highly capable, hands-on  Shipping & Receiving Lead to oversee daily shipping, receiving, packaging, and warehouse operations. This position will play a key role in ensuring orders are accurately picked, packaged, labeled, staged, shipped, and received while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can work hands-on alongside the team, prioritize competing tasks, solve problems independently, and maintain accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping, Receiving & Packaging

• Lead day-to-day shipping and receiving operations.
• Oversee accurate picking, packing, packaging, labeling, and staging of customer orders.
• Ensure products are packaged securely and appropriately to prevent damage during shipping.
• Verify orders for accuracy before shipment, including product, quantity, packaging, labels, and shipping documentation.
• Coordinate incoming shipments and ensure received goods are properly unloaded, counted, inspected, and organized.
• Identify and report damaged, missing, or incorrect items.
• Prepare pallets, boxes, cartons, and other shipments for pickup and delivery.
• Coordinate carrier pickups and ensure shipments are ready on schedule.
• Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records.
• Keep shipping and receiving areas clean, organized, and efficient.

Warehouse Operations

• Fully cross-trained in picking, packing, palletizing, loading, unloading, and receiving.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks and containers during peak periods.
• Ensure inventory and products are properly staged and stored.
• Maintain an organized warehouse layout to support efficient workflow.
• Help identify opportunities to improve packaging, shipping, receiving, and warehouse processes.
• Provide hands-on support wherever needed to keep daily operations moving.

Leadership & Training

• Lead and coordinate warehouse and shipping team members throughout the workday.
• Assign tasks and priorities based on daily shipping and receiving needs.
• Train new employees on shipping, receiving, packaging, safety procedures, equipment, and workflow.
• Successfully complete training on company equipment, systems, and processes.
• Be able to train new employees quickly and effectively after completing your own training.
• Ensure team members follow safety guidelines and proper operating procedures.
• Provide hands-on leadership while remaining actively involved in daily warehouse tasks.

Safety & Organization

• Maintain strict safety standards and reinforce safe work practices.
• Ensure proper lifting, loading, unloading, and material-handling procedures are followed.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards.
• Identify safety concerns and address or escalate them promptly.
• Ensure warehouse equipment is operated safely and efficiently.

Leadership, Problem-Solving & Communication

• Manage people while remaining hands-on with daily shipping and warehouse responsibilities.
• Demonstrate strong independent problem-solving skills and the ability to figure things out without constant supervision.
• Communicate daily with ownership regarding shipping status, receiving issues, inventory concerns, safety, workflow, and priorities.
• Monitor daily shipping and receiving goals and communicate whether targets are being met.
• Identify workflow problems and suggest practical improvements.
• Stay calm, professional, and clear in communication, even during high-stress or fast-paced situations.
• Adapt quickly to interruptions, changing priorities, and new assignments without losing productivity.
• Take on additional responsibilities as the company grows and workflows evolve.

Qualifications

• Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or logistics required.
• Previous supervisory or team-lead experience required.
• Packaging and order fulfillment experience preferred.
• Strong safety mindset with the ability to enforce safe work practices.
• Ability to independently solve problems and adapt to changing assignments.
• Strong reading and writing skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate directly with ownership.
• Ability to train others quickly and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Professional, reliable, self-motivated, and eager for growth.
