Skilled Laborer

This role supports commercial, manufacturing, and industrial construction projects by performing a wide range of skilled and manual tasks on site. The skilled laborer works with multiple trades, operates various tools and equipment, and helps ensure projects progress safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform physical labor on commercial, manufacturing, and industrial construction sites, including both new builds and renovations.
• Support three or more trades such as metal panel installation, trim work, insulation, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
• Install and work with metal panels and metal trim according to specifications and safety standards.
• Assist with insulation installation to ensure proper coverage and performance.
• Perform carpentry tasks including framing, blocking, and general wood construction work.
• Assist with drywall installation, finishing, and related preparation tasks.
• Perform interior and exterior painting and surface preparation as needed.
• Support concrete-related tasks as part of general construction activities.
• Operate a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Operate equipment such as lifts, telehandlers, and skid steers in accordance with safety guidelines and training.
• Lift, push, pull, and carry heavy materials and equipment as required for daily tasks.
• Follow verbal and written instructions to complete assigned work accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on the jobsite.
• Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe and productive work environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other site personnel to coordinate tasks and resolve issues.
• Adapt to changing priorities and perform other duties as assigned by site leadership.

Essential Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in at least three trades such as metal panels, metal trim, insulation, carpentry, drywall, painting, or concrete work.
• Ability to perform manual labor safely and consistently in a commercial construction environment.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools commonly used in construction.
• Ability to operate lifts, telehandlers, and skid steers or willingness to learn under supervision.
• Capability to push, pull, and carry heavy objects and materials as part of daily tasks.
• Willingness and ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, team members, and site personnel.
• Strong commitment to safety and a proven track record of contributing to a safe work environment.
• Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite to support consistent attendance and timeliness.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including hot summers and cold winters.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience across multiple construction trades, including metal panels, metal trim, insulation, carpentry, drywall, painting, concrete, and general construction trades.
• Comfort with heavy lifting and physically demanding work over the course of a full workday.
• Experience working on commercial, manufacturing, or industrial construction projects.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of tasks and support different trades as project needs change.

Work Environment:

The role is based on commercial, manufacturing, and industrial construction projects, including both renovations and new builds. Work takes place primarily on active construction sites, often outdoors and year-round, with exposure to extreme climates in both summer and winter. The position involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment such as lifts, telehandlers, and skid steers. The environment is physically demanding, requiring regular heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials and equipment. You will work closely with a field team in a setting that emphasizes safety, productivity, and clear communication, with tasks and priorities that can change based on project needs. Dress and personal protective equipment are consistent with commercial construction standards, including appropriate workwear and safety gear suitable for outdoor and industrial environments.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
