The unit is supported by a highly specialized team, including:Advanced practice providers providing 24/7 coverageSpecially trained nursesRespiratory therapists, clinical pharmacists, and nutritionistsChild life specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapistsCase managers, social workers, and pediatric allied health professionalsAs a cornerstone of the Inova Heart Center, the PCICU serves approximately 400 patients annually, achieving outstanding outcomes. The Heart Center, with over 30 years of service to Northern Virginia and the Greater Washington Region, excels in surgical repair of complex congenital heart defects, including hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Our commitment to safety and quality is unwavering, with weekly reviews of patient safety and quality data and active participation in the PC4 registry.
