Onsite Jewelry Verification Specialist

The JVS Verification Associate performs routine, standardized jewelry evaluations in accordance with GIA methodology and established procedures to verify core jewelry attributes. The Associate works within clearly defined guidelines to ensure accuracy and consistency, accurately documenting results and escalating all discrepancies, uncertainties, and non-routine findings for review. This role is focused on execution, quality, and adherence to process in a production-driven environment. Location: New York Office Start Date: July 6, 2026 Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform high-volume, standardized jewelry evaluations using GIA methodology to verify core attributes (e.g., condition, metal type, diamond quality); meet daily production targets for completed evaluations (40%) Execute verification workflows consistently, ensuring compliance with established procedures, quality standards, and documentation guidelines (30%) Accurately document all verification outcomes in applicable systems with a strong focus on completeness and audit readiness (10%) Identify discrepancies, irregularities, or non-standard findings and elevate appropriately in accordance with defined escalation protocols (10%) Maintain organized, accurate, and complete records to support quality assurance reviews and traceability (10%) Follow all security, handling, and chain-of-custody procedures when working with jewelry items to ensure asset protection Consistently meet defined KPIs for accuracy, throughput, and error rate, while maintaining attention to detail Support quality control initiatives, including re-checks or audits as directed by supervisors Communicate clear with supervisors regarding workflow issues, backlog risks or process concerns Adhere to all operational, safety, and compliance guidelines within a production-driven lab environment Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge & Experience Required) Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences, Geology, or related field preferred Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma or equivalent credential preferred Experience Experience working in a fast-paced, structured, and process-driven environment preferred Prior experience in jewelry, manufacturing, or laboratory settings preferred Technical / Functional Knowledge Basic ability to operate gemological or verification tools and equipment under guidance Familiarity with standardized evaluation or inspection processes preferred Critical Success Factors Proven ability to meet production goals while maintaining high levels of accuracy and consistency Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures with minimal deviation Job Competencies (Skills & Abilities) High attention to detail and precision in repetitive tasks Strong adherence to process, standards, and quality requirements Ability to follow structured workflows with limited autonomy Ability to recognize discrepancies and determine when escalation is required Effective time management; ability to meet daily production and throughput targets Basic problem awareness (identifies and reports issues rather than resolving independently) Clear and concise communication and documentation skills Adaptability in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment Strong accountability for accuracy and output Additional Requirements Fully onsite due to the nature of the work and security requirements Ability to work in a production-based environment with defined daily output expectations Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business demands Work Environment / Physical Demands Work performed in a high-security laboratory environment with controlled access Repetitive, production-based tasks performed while sitting or standing for extended periods Frequent use of computers, microscopes, and gemological tools High level of manual dexterity required for safe jewelry handling Frequent pinch, grip, and fine motor hand movements throughout the workday Close vision required (clear vision at 20 inches or less) Depth perception required to assess spatial relationships and object positioning Ability to accurately distinguish color variations (including D–Z and fancy color grading) Pay: $23.75 an hour An Equal Opportunity Employer.
