Automotive Technician

Hendrick GMC (Columbia) Location: 736 Saturn Parkway, Columbia, South Carolina 29212 Summary Responsible for identifying necessary vehicle service and performing the repair, service, and/or maintenance work. Responsibilities Examines customer vehicles Identifies necessary vehicle repairs and maintenance Estimates cost of repairs Performs vehicle repairs and maintenance Documents services performed Performs services efficiently and according to dealership guidelines Follows dealership and manufacturer service guidelines Requests necessary parts Effectively utilizes available technologies to enhance customer experience Maintains CSI at or above company standards Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area Participates in required training Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system Follows Safeguards rules and regulations Demonstrates the company’s core values Complies with company policies and procedures Observes all Federal, State, Local and company safety rules and regulations Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education GED or High School Diploma (required) Associate, Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate Degree (desired) Work Experience 0-3 years of automotive service experience (desired) 3-5 years of automotive service experience (desired) 5+ years of automotive service experience (desired) Technical Requirements Thorough knowledge of automotive parts and systems Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge Technical training or commensurate experience required All required manufacturer fundamental training and/or NAPA training provided by HAG Completed manufacturer training to perform warranty repairs, recalls, PDI, maintenance, and minor repairs Certifications and Licenses Valid driver’s license (required) Certified/senior technician with respective manufacturer (preferred) State inspection/emissions license required by state ASE tests meeting or exceeding manufacturer requirements Computer Skills Basic computer skills to utilize timekeeping system Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system Communication Skills Ability to understand and follow instructions Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel Attendance Expectations Regular and predictable attendance required Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays Physical and Environment Demands Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Performed primarily in the service area; may involve power tools and test equipment, exposure to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other repair conditions Verbal, Writing, Math, and Reasoning Ability Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos Ability to present information one-on-one and in small group situations Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and solve standardized situations Ability to understand and follow technical manuals Core Values Servant Leadership Teamwork through Trust & Respect Integrity Commitment to Customer Enthusiasm Passion for Winning Accountability at All Levels Commitment to Continuous Improvement Hendrick is an Equal Opportunity employer.
