Overview The Medical Assistant Certified supports the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant Certified is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/works with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes. Location, Schedule & Requirements Work Location: 400 West 84th Drive, Merrillville IN 46410 Full-time, Monday–Friday schedule No nights or weekends at this time Medical Assistant diploma required. Medical Assistant Certificate/Registration required We offer competitive pay as well as PTO, Holiday pay, and a comprehensive benefits package Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life Insurance Pet Insurance Health savings account Paid sick time Paid time off Paid holidays Profit sharing Retirement plan Essential Job Function / Competencies Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the assigned direct supervisor Coordinate and schedule patient appointments in coordination with physicians, nursing, and other staff Greet and prepare patients Measure and record vital signs Record patient interviews, history, and chief complaints Provide patient education regarding medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests Assist physicians with exams Perform phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens; perform basic lab tests Perform EKGs Assist with X-ray and physician therapy procedures Prepare and administer medications with physician authorization Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and perform other first aid procedures Use CPR skills when necessary Prepare accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times Open the office in the morning and close in the afternoon Maintain patient logs for lab requests, CT scans and other treatment orders Maintain prescription ledger when needed Ensure the back office has good flow, keep rooms full and assist with room turnover Perform new patient thorough work-up (x-rays, vitals, new patient packet explanation) Add medical history on all new patients and accurately update established patients’ history Prepare for physician visits with accurate room setup Ensure medications are updated before physician visits Support set-up for in-office surgical procedures Ensure consent forms are completed correctly with appropriate medical abbreviations Scribe as assigned per physician office flow Prepare for seeing patients the following day, including confirmation of next-day visits Complete patient medical record requests as needed Assist in orientation and training of new personnel Ensure proper handoffs of responsibilities upon task completion Meet attendance criteria and start work promptly; punctual and dependable for assigned shifts Respect and uphold the organization’s commitment to cultural diversity Demonstrate effective time and resource management Adhere to HR and corporate policies and procedures Ensure medical records are accurate and complete for all patients Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, medical laws, and high ethical standards Support compliance and accreditation efforts including OSHA, HIPAA & CMS guidelines Performs other position-related duties as assigned Certifications, Licensures or Registry Requirements Medical Assistant Certification or Registration required BLS certification required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to perform well in stressful situations Knowledge of healthcare systems operations such as EMR and Practice Management Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines Project management Vendor relations (for those MAs who order office and clinical supplies) Knowledge of database management Strong problem-solving skills Proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office Excellent verbal and written communication skills Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality Education Requirements Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required Experience Requirements 6 months experience in a physician’s office desired; Urology experience desired Travel Minimal travel required Physical Demands Carrying weight: up to 25 lbs frequently; 26-50 lbs occasionally Pushing/Pulling: up to 25 lbs occasionally Lifting: Floor to Chest up to 25 lbs occasionally; 26-50 lbs seldom #J-18808-Ljbffr UroPartners LLC.
