Dynamic inpatient, acute care opportunity at New Mexico's only Level 1 trauma center and the state's premier teaching hospital.In order to make an application, simply read through the following job description and make sure to attach relevant documents.This is a rotating position within the hospital for all adult ICU and progressive care units.As a member of the UNMH physical therapy team, you will be part of a rehab department encompassing both O.T.and P.T.You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of adult acute care units and, if desired, may rotate through the Children's Hospital of N.M.You will work with a group of highly skilled therapists and medical teams.Educational opportunities abound.Many of our therapists also teach in the UNM Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy educational programs.Experience preferred however, new grads are welcome and, if selected, will be supported with a strong mentorship program.Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentials Compensation Disclaimer Compensation for this role is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, and other business and organizational considerations.Department: Rehabilitation Services FTE: 1.00 Full Time Shift: Rotating Position Summary: Organize and deliver medically-prescribed physical therapy to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part.Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.Detailed responsibilities: PATIENT SAFETY 1Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols DEVELOPMENTEnhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops PATIENT SAFETY 2Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes PATIENT SAFETY 3Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk CONSULTATIONConsult with medical staff on patient care PATIENT SAFETY 4Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner TRAININGConduct training for medical, nursing and ancillary personnel in therapy techniques and objectives; provide clinical direction through mentoring, planning and implementing staff in-service training PATIENT SAFETY 5Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right" SUPPLIES & EQUIPMENTOrder supplies and equipment THERAPYEvaluate patient to determine treatment goals; outline delivery of therapy according to assessed needs; plan therapy program involving physical means to include exercise, massage, heat, sound, water, light, and electricity EVALUATIONApply methodology for evaluation of functional ability EDUCATIONEducate patient in use of specialized equipment, posture control, and therapeutic procedures INSTRUCTIONInstruct caregivers on prescribed physical therapy regimen; instruct patients and caregivers on home and personal safety in various environments THERAPYAdapt therapy techniques to meet patient needs SUPERVISIONSupervise and instruct Physical Therapy students and volunteers as delegated; delegate patient treatment responsibilities to ancillary staff as appropriate DOCUMENTATIONDocument all patient care activities; process patient billing MODIFICATIONSAssess home environment for modifications; make recommendations on modifications needed to maximize daily living activities INSURANCEComplete insurance documentation as required CUSTOMER RELATIONSEstablish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and Hospitals employees Qualifications Education: Essential: Bachelor's Degree Education specialization: Essential: Related Discipline Experience: Essential: Nonessential: Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo 1 year directly related experience Credentials: Essential: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days NM Physical Therapist License or Temporary License Physical Conditions: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. xhyhwjd Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.Working conditions: Essential: Med Haz: Mod exposure to chemicals/dangerous equip/materials Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required Sign-On Bonus Available Relocation Assistance Available Department: Clinical Care
