Controls Engineer
Location: Princeton, MN
Travel: Approximately 25%, primarily domestic, with potential international travel
A manufacturer of custom automated equipment is seeking a Controls Engineer to design and program machine control systems and take projects from concept through installation. The role includes electrical and pneumatic design, PLC programming, machine debugging, customer acceptance testing, and equipment startup.
Responsibilities
- Program automated equipment to company and customer specifications using established procedures.
- Specify components and document control systems for automated machinery.
- Develop electrical and pneumatic designs.
- Program PLCs and HMIs, debug machinery, and prepare equipment for customer runoff and acceptance testing.
- Design and program safety circuits using safety PLCs.
- Perform machine risk assessments and implement appropriate safety devices.
- Develop control-panel designs that meet applicable UL 508 requirements.
- Travel to customer sites for equipment installation and startup.
Qualifications
- Five years of experience designing and programming control systems for automated equipment.
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Allen-Bradley software, including Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, and FactoryTalk View.
- Ability to carry projects from initial concept through machine installation and commissioning.
- A relevant associate degree is preferred.
