Details Work within the ADTU and satellite Med/Surg-Tele units of a Level I Trauma teaching hospital Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as COPD exacerbation, CHF, pneumonia, PE, DVT, GI bleeds, and CVA RN staffing ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on unit, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week Every other weekend rotation required No on-call responsibilities Floating required within assigned region to other facilities as needed, within scope of practice Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors No dedicated tele tech; primary nurse responsible for telemetry monitoring and interpretation each shift Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required Skilled in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management Experience managing PCA pumps and medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF Epic EMR experience required Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel placement Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration One professional reference within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required Additional Information Designated Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center within a Level I Trauma teaching hospital Strong interdisciplinary support including CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurses, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7 Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation Holiday coverage required for 75% of designated holidays RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if contracted hours are not met Navy blue scrub color required Free parking provided Unit culture described as close-knit and family-oriented First-time travelers considered though not preferred Returning candidates must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position American Traveler Job ID P-747899.
