Job Summary
The Sanitation Associate is responsible for performing environmental and deep equipment cleaning to ensure the safety, quality, and integrity of food products. This role supports production by maintaining sanitary equipment and work areas while following food safety, GMP, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble production equipment.
- Operate Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) and Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems.
- Verify proper cleaning and setup of production equipment.
- Monitor and test chemical concentrations in CIP systems.
- Maintain CIP chart recorders and accurately complete required documentation and logs.
- Use bioluminescence technology to verify sanitation effectiveness.
- Perform cleaning tasks according to the Plant Master Cleaning Schedule.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting of sanitation equipment.
- Train new associates on sanitation and environmental procedures.
- Operate the facility's SCADA system.
- Move sanitation and production materials using material handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with GMP and safety guidelines.
- Complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to train and mentor other associates in sanitation and environmental operations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a self-directed work team.
- Experience operating SCADA systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, and workplace safety standards.
- Understanding of machine operation and adjustment procedures.
- Willingness to participate in production improvement initiatives, associate involvement teams, and temporary project teams.
- Ability to train in other plant areas as part of the Skill Block Program, including the Valve and Pump Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program.
