Quality InspectorThe Quality Inspector plays a key role in ensuring that production assemblies and incoming materials meet stringent customer and regulatory requirements. This position focuses on in-process and final inspections, incoming material verification, documentation and data control, and participation in audits and continuous improvement activities. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, comfort working under a microscope with small precision components, and the ability to follow and enforce established quality procedures in a cleanroom, high-tech production environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform in-process and final inspections on production assemblies in accordance with detailed work instructions and customer quality requirements.Use microscopes and precision inspection tools to evaluate small, high-value components and fiber optic parts.Complete all required inspection checklists accurately and in alignment with production rates and schedules.Conduct incoming inspection of materials based on defined inspection criteria and quality control plans.Review and verify documentation, certifications, and records for incoming materials to ensure compliance.Inspect and accept materials requiring special handling, including glues, adhesives, and chemicals.Verify labeling, expiration dates, storage requirements, and confirm that Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are on file for applicable materials.Review Travelers, Work Orders, and inspection records for accuracy, completeness, and proper traceability.Scan, file, and store quality records to meet ISO 9001 and customer documentation requirements.Participate in monthly process audits to support ongoing compliance and process improvement.Monitor daily ESD compliance, including performing and documenting humidity checks.Follow and enforce quality procedures, handling requirements, and ESD controls in the production environment.Attend daily stand-up meetings and provide clear inspection status updates to the team.Participate in meetings to identify gating items, risks, and inspection constraints that may impact production.Assist in training technicians to ensure a shared understanding of inspection criteria and quality expectations.Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, or standardize inspection and documentation processes.Communicate effectively with manufacturing, operations, and quality leadership regarding findings, risks, and nonconformances.Support nonconformance reporting and Material Review Board (MRB) processes as needed.Work methodically and independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high accuracy and consistency.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent.2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, inspection, or quality role.Demonstrated ability to follow detailed work instructions and established quality procedures.Comfort performing microscope-based inspections and handling small precision parts and fiber optic components.Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in documentation and recordkeeping.Basic computer skills and ability to learn product lifecycle management (PLM) and quality systems such as Arena.Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.Experience with incoming and in-process inspections in a production environment.Ability to work methodically and independently with minimal supervision.Clear and professional communication skills when working with manufacturing, operations, and quality teams.Familiarity with ESD-controlled environments and daily ESD compliance practices.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in photonics, optics, microelectronics, or aerospace/defense manufacturing.Experience with nonconformance reporting and Material Review Board (MRB) processes.Comfort working in a production environment with high mix and low volume hardware.Ability to interpret and work with Travelers, Work Orders, and inspection records.Experience using microscopes and precision inspection tools in a cleanroom or similar controlled environment.Understanding of quality control principles and process audits.Ability to participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Familiarity with schematic reading is beneficial.Why Work Here?This role offers a long-term opportunity in a dynamic, innovative environment where quality is central to success.
