- Accounting SpecialistFairfield Memorial Hospital Association - FAIRFIELD, IL 62837## OverviewSalary Range$23.00 - $35.00 HourlyPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftDay Shift## Description**NATURE OF WORK**Fairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to join the Finance team. This unique position combines accounting, medical staff credentialing, payer enrollment, payroll backup, and regulatory compliance responsibilities. The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial integrity, audit readiness, provider credentialing processes, and enrollment activities. This position is responsible for month end and year end accounting support, journal entries, bank reconciliations, audit preparation, provider credentialing, OPPE/FPPE reporting, payer enrollments, and payroll backup. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies and healthcare regulations.**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*** Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations* Research and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and variances* Prepare monthly and year end journal entries* Assist with month end and year end close processes* Support annual audits by preparing documentation and supporting schedules* Maintain organized and audit ready financial records* Assist with regulatory and financial reporting requirements* Coordinate provider credentialing and recredentialing activities* Maintain provider licenses, certifications, privileges, and required documentation* Assist with OPPE and FPPE reporting processes* Maintain files in accordance with Joint Commission standards and organizational policies* Process provider enrollments, revalidations, and updates with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers* Monitor application status and follow up on outstanding enrollments* Maintain provider information within enrollment databases and systems* Work with providers and payers to resolve enrollment issues* Serve as backup for payroll processing* Assist with payroll-related reconciliations and reporting as needed* Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information* Support Finance Department projects and process improvements* Perform other duties as assigned**COMPENSATION:** $23.00-$34.00 per hour**SCHEDULE:** Monday-Friday; 8:00 am-4:30 pm**BENEFITS*** 403(b) Retirement Plan* PPO Health Insurance Plan* HDHP Health Insurance Plan w/ Health Savings Account* Dental Insurance Plan* Vision Insurance Plan* Short and Long Term Disability Insurance* Basic and Voluntary Life Insurance Plans* Paid Time Off (Vacation/Sick/Illinois Paid Leave/Holiday)* Flexible Work Schedules* Professional Development Opportunities**WHAT FMH HAS TO OFFER** Fairfield Memorial Hospital is a mission focused critical access hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care to the patients and families we serve, with a strong commitment to improving the health and well being of our community through compassionate service, clinical excellence, and a supportive culture that empowers employees to do their best work. We proudly uphold Equal Opportunity Employment practices and welcome applicants of all backgrounds without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.## Qualifications**EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS*** Required: Associate Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.* Preferred: Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance; Healthcare finance, credentialing, or provider enrollment experience; Experience with accounting, payroll, or ERP software systems.**EXPERIENCE*** Required: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, credentialing, payer enrollment, healthcare administration, or a related field.* Preferred: Experience with reconciliations, financial reporting support, or provider enrollment processes; Healthcare experience strongly preferred.**SKILLS*** Strong knowledge of accounting and reconciliation principles.* Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies.* Excellent organizational and time management skills.* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.* Effective verbal and written communication skills.* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial, payroll, and provider information.* Knowledge of provider credentialing, payer enrollment, and healthcare regulatory requirements preferred.
