Applications Engineer

Applications EngineerWorking as Full-time Applications Engineer, you will work directly with our global customer base on new or existing product designs, fastener consolidation, standardization projects (reverse engineering, teardowns, production line, reviews, etc.), failure analysis, and customer specified and industry standard testing. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals.The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Providing technical support on fasteners and fastening to our customers and sales teamOverseeing and conducting failure analysis and testing of fastener and other metal componentsInterpreting metallurgical and failure analysis results and provide solution recommendations for multifunctional teamsSampling and testing of product in an A2LA Accredited LaboratoryRevising and troubleshooting fastener applicationsAnalyzing fastener failureEstablishing and complying with project timelinesPerforming in house testing to prove design featuresThe following skills and qualifications are required for this position:Possess a current full valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as neededPossess a bachelor's degree in Material Science, Metallurgy or a related field of studyExcellent written and oral communication skillsDemonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgencyHighly motivated, self directed and customer service orientedDemonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilitiesWork independently as well as in a team environmentLearn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environmentWillingness to travel both domestically and internationallyDemonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamworkLift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbsPass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)Since 1967 Fastenal has grown as a distributor of industrial and construction supplies from a single branch to a Fortune 500 company with over 3,000 servicing locations, each providing tailored local inventory and personal service for our customers. The base pay range for this position is $60,000 - 90,000. In addition to base pay, this position is also eligible for a bonus and/or commission.
