Certified Patient Care Assistant PCA Medical Unit Days

POSITION SUMMARY As a Certified Patient Care Assistant on the Medical Unit, you will provide routine patient care to promote comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. Your responsibilities include ongoing patient data collection, documentation, and a variety of unit support functions that help maintain efficient operation of the nursing unit. CORE FUNCTIONS Assist patients with activities of daily living, including basic hygiene, mobility, and nutritional intake to promote health. Collect specimens and data such as vital signs, input/output, and other measurements; document objective data and routine aspects of care; assist in specimen transport. Recognize and report abnormalities or changes in health status; communicate accurately and completely with other caregivers. Perform delegated procedures and use equipment such as blood draws, foley catheter removal, and EKGs; provide supplies, support, and assistance to staff under supervision. Conduct receptionist and clerical duties to support departmental efficiency; assist with problem resolution and information flow. Maintain complete patient records, including admissions, transfers, discharges, progress notes, and consent forms; ensure forms are properly scanned, filed, and labeled. Manage office, dietary, and medical supplies; process requisitions and reconcile orders upon delivery. Assist with transportation of patients, including pre‑operative and post‑operative cases, and participate in operating room turnover. Work under supervision with responsibility limited to the assigned unit; operate in a fast‑paced, customer‑service focused environment. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED. BLS certification required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice required for all new hires and transfers. Preferably one year of medical clerical experience or prior customer service experience. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy with keyboarding skills. For certain assignments: minimum 85% passing score on ECG or EEG test and completion of an approved interpretation course. BENEFITS Competitive salary and benefits package.
