Design/Construction Project Manager

$90k - $120k

StaffBuffalo

Job Description

Job Description

Design / Construction Project Manager

Are you a construction professional who enjoys managing projects from concept through completion while balancing office planning with field involvement? StaffBuffalo is partnering with a respected public infrastructure organization to hire a Design / Construction Project Manager, offering $90,000–$120,000 per year. This is an outstanding opportunity to oversee complex bridge, building, and infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced construction professionals on projects that have a lasting impact on the region.

As the Design / Construction Project Manager, you'll manage projects throughout every phase—from inspection findings and early planning through design, bidding, construction, and project closeout. Approximately 70% of your time will be spent in the office coordinating consultants, reviewing plans, developing budgets, preparing bid documents, and managing project schedules, while the remaining time will involve meetings, site visits, and collaboration with contractors and stakeholders. This position has been created to support a growing capital improvement program while also serving as a long-term succession opportunity within the organization.

The ideal Design / Construction Project Manager enjoys working with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and public stakeholders while balancing technical reviews, project administration, budgeting, scheduling, and field coordination. If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership of meaningful infrastructure projects while continuing to grow professionally, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Lewiston, NY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage bridge, infrastructure, facility, and capital construction projects from planning through final completion.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout all project phases.
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, scopes of work, bid packages, contracts, and procurement documentation.
  • Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, RFIs, contractor submittals, and change requests.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, quality, and regulatory compliance while proactively identifying and resolving project risks.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, identify deficiencies, and coordinate corrective actions with contractors.
  • Lead project meetings, prepare progress reports, maintain project documentation, and communicate updates to leadership.
  • Support long-term capital planning through inspections, condition assessments, budgeting, and project forecasting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing commercial, institutional, industrial, heavy civil, infrastructure, or bridge construction projects.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders including contractors, consultants, architects, and engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents, project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar scheduling software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar PDF/CAD software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between project sites.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. and Canadian border security clearances (including NEXUS eligibility).

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $90,000–$120,000/year
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • Pension and retirement program
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and personal time
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Long-term career growth and succession planning
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure projects
  • Stable, collaborative, mission-driven organization

The advertised pay range represents what we believe at the time of this job posting that our client would be willing to pay for this position. Only in special circumstances, where a candidate has education, training, or experience that far exceeds the requirements for the position, would we consider paying higher than the stated range.
