Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN UP Specialty: CV MedSrg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience. License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: ASN Description: The staff Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The nurse provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, and technology. Responsibilities and duties required by the unit are specific to the scope of service. Procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice are implemented. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided assures the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. An initial assessment is completed upon patient admission, and an appropriate plan of care is developed in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures are implemented. The plan of care is modified based upon continuous evaluation. Responsibility for patient and employee safety is taken by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communication with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues is essential. Constructive feedback is offered to assist in the professional development of peers. Conferencing with colleagues helps to expand the knowledge base. Identification of own learning needs and taking initiative to begin appropriate solutions is important. All requirements of departmental competencies are fulfilled. Direct care of CVMS patients, including post-operative care, is provided. A clean and tidy work environment is maintained. Hourly rounding on patients is conducted. Proactive efforts are made to seek out opportunities to assist internal and external customers.
