Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: RN License required Certifications: BLS Certification required Must-Have: Recent medical/surgical experience is a must. Telemetry experience is preferred in the event of floating to other units. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract acceptance. Experience in handling sterile fields is important. Description: We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for a medical surgical unit. Candidates must have Level 1 trauma experience. This position requires floating to other units, including telemetry. Travel teams are expected to have their own vehicles. The hospital expects every nurse to be competent in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Those who break the sterile field during training may be terminated. Nurses will participate in educational training on lifts, restraints, and wound care. The typical nurse-patient ratio is 1:4-5. Nurses do not titrate cardiac drips, but Heparin requires monitoring. There are no telemetry technicians on the unit, so nurses should be prepared to read and interpret strips. A charge nurse is present in the department at all times. No nurse aides are utilized; resource nurses are available. Respiratory therapy will be assigned to the unit as needed. Self-scheduling occurs four weeks in advance. Three weekend shifts are required every four weeks. Holiday shifts will be assigned based on unit coverage. Travelers will be the first to float to other areas when necessary.
