Clinical Role

Join a well-established cardiovascular program serving a regional hub-and-spoke network anchored by an academic medical center in Omaha, Nebraska. This ongoing locums opportunity is seeking a board-certified Interventional Cardiologist to provide primarily cardiac catheterization laboratory coverage, STEMI call, and interventional cardiology services across four hospitals.

Contract Length:

October through December 2026

Ongoing coverage opportunities available following completion of the initial assignment

Coverage Requirements:

Full-time (1.0 FTE)

Coverage across four hospitals within a hub-and-spoke cardiovascular network

Schedule:

Onsite clinical coverage:

8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Night call:

4:30 PM - 8:00 AM

Night call is shared and not required every night

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

Academic medical center with affiliated regional hospitals

Hospital-based interventional cardiology practice

Inpatient and outpatient cardiac catheterization laboratories

Limited ambulatory clinic responsibilities as needed

Clinical Responsibilities:

Diagnostic cardiac catheterizations

Interventional cardiac catheterizations

Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)

STEMI call coverage

Inpatient interventional cardiology coverage

Outpatient cardiac catheterization procedures

Limited inpatient rounding with APP support

Possible ambulatory clinic coverage

Collaboration with the existing interventional cardiology team

Patient Volume:

Up to approximately five cardiac catheterization procedures per day

Inpatient census:

Less than 15 patients at regional hospitals

Greater than 20 patients at the academic hub hospital

Routine rounding is generally not required at the hub hospital

Occasional rounding may be required at regional facilities

Required Procedures:

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)

Diagnostic cardiac catheterization

Impella placement and management

Coronary angioplasty

Coronary stenting

STEMI intervention

Pericardiocentesis

Temporary pacemaker placement

Right heart catheterization

Support & Technology

Support Staff:

Experienced cardiac catheterization laboratory staff

Advanced Practice Provider support for inpatient rounding

Collaborative interventional cardiology team

EMR System:

Epic

Requirements

Board Certification in Interventional Cardiology - Required

Completion of an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship - Required

Active Nebraska License and Iowa License - Required

OR

Active Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) Letter of Qualification (LOQ) at time of submission - Accepted

ACLS Certification - Highly Preferred

BLS Certification - Highly Preferred

DEA Registration - Highly Preferred
