Position Summary

The Instructional Guide works within a pod, reporting to the Learner Experience Coordinator (LXC), and leads academic small groups in a dedicated focus room. The Instructional Guide executes individualized learning goals, provides ongoing feedback, and works closely with the LEC to ensure alignment, continuity, and learner progress across the pod.

This role is ideal for someone with classroom teaching experience who enjoys hands-on, small-group instruction and working closely within a collaborative, high-support team.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Goal Execution

• Lead academic small groups in a dedicated focus room, covering communication, early academics, social-emotional learning, regulation strategies, sensory exploration, and fine motor skill development.
• Execute individualized goals, instructional plans, and interventions in partnership with the LEC.
• Provide supplemental 1:1 instruction as needed based on learner profiles.
• Embed communication strategies throughout sessions, including AAC modeling, visuals, gestalts, and responsive language.
• Track learner participation and progress within sessions.

Collaboration With Learner Experience Coordinator

• Meet regularly with the LEC to review learner goals, adjust instructional focus, and plan upcoming small-group sessions.
• Share observations, data, and insights that support meaningful goal revision and instructional decision-making.
• Maintain strong alignment between focus-room instruction and the broader pod's learning experiences.
• Participate in co-planning conversations, reflective practice, and ongoing team support meetings.
• Ensure instructional approaches are consistent with the LEC's direction and Indie's developmental, neuro-affirming practices.

Regulation & Learner Support

• Use co-regulation, sensory tools, and proactive supports to promote emotional safety and engagement.
• Monitor learner strengths, barriers, and engagement patterns during sessions.
• Follow individualized support plans from the LEC and therapy team.

Environment & Materials Preparation

• Prepare materials, activities, and learning tools for the focus room.
• Maintain an organized, welcoming instructional space.
• Ensure all learning areas used for instruction are safe, clean, and regulation-supportive.

Team Collaboration

• Communicate consistently with the LEC, Studio Leads, and therapy providers.
• Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development.
• Support alignment across studios and instructional settings within the pod.

Family Interaction

• Greet families warmly and contribute to a positive, welcoming atmosphere.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and clear communication boundaries.

Qualifications

• Classroom teaching experience required.
• Valid teaching license required.
• Ability to lead structured small-group learning.
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort working closely within a pod team led by a Learner Experience Coordinator.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn neurodiversity-affirming, inclusive practices.
• Current or willingness to obtain:
• Fingerprint Clearance Card
• CPR/First Aid certification
